Daughter Of Eve.
He first saw her under a silvery moon And stood transfixed watching from afar He mustered enough courage to call upon her But only by the next noon For she was fair as she was fine With a pretty lone dimple and eyes that shine With hidden dark mysteries of winter's night And the warmth of summer's sunny delight Height like an amazon, a figure defying age The kind that drove boys wild and their girls to rage She was Eve's daughter, and yet so shy And like an angel, in innocence, she could fly.
She's enthralled by him and he tells her tales Words of flattery so sweet she fails To see the spear that would fiercely pierce Her sweet nectar with razor-sharp speed He had his fill and quenched a need She had a bitter thrill and is left with his seed And many moons after she welcomes her daughter And whenever there's a silvery moonlight out in the sky She holds her baby to her breasts and croons a haunting lullaby Of a woman-child in the very beginning Long, long ago before original sin Who was fair as she was fine With a pretty lone dimple and eyes that shine.........
" 'Kego Onyido" , now that's an ingenious one - I'm guessing the name is probably one you owned when you were a "woman-child" ? Lol! I thoroughly enjoyed this! I don't usually enjoy or even understand some poetry but this one was easy-reading and really enjoyable! If only some young girls could read this and avoid the many mistakes many young girls make when it comes to men and their smooth-talking ways! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you Kego.
Thanks all for the lifting comments. @ Gboyega: lol, I wrote this poem about 20 yrs ago and the amazing thing is that the friend it is based on still has and cherishes the original and she gave me permission to use it. The book will have short intro for each poem. This is actually helping me reconnect w/so many people @Eukaybaby: My sis, thanks for the encouraging words...I'll definitely keep writing @Jojo: lol, the pic na photoshop trick o! but on the inside, u know say I fine like that.
I am what I am. Alive; Unafraid; Evolving; ordinary yet dynamic, totally open to the creator's plans for me, so beautiful and special because a King fought a war and died for ME!
